October is Eczema Awareness Month
Did you know? Eczema affects up to 25% of children, however many adults suffer from eczema as well. Extreme temperatures (very cold or hot weather), fragrances, certain foods and more may cause eczema to flare-up.
What is eczema? It is a chronic skin problem that can make the skin itchy, inflamed, and uncomfortable. It can worsen and lead to skin infections.
Also known as atopic dermatitis, eczema is thought to be the immune system reacting to stress, food, allergens, or other substances. Unfortunately, there is no permanent cure for eczema, but our dermatologists can assess and diagnose this condition and discuss customized treatment options that can help reduce your symptoms and relieve itching.
Contact us to schedule an appointment with one of our board-certified dermatologists who can help you keep your skin healthy and reduce eczema flare-ups.
