Laser Tattoo Removal
WHAT IS LASER TATTOO REMOVAL?
There could be many reasons why you no longer want your tattoo. Maybe it resembles a difficult memory, doesn't represent you anymore, or it has simply lost color. Regardless of the reason, advancements in tattoo removal technology have helped make it feasible to lighten and potentially eliminate an unwanted tattoo altogether. At Contemporary Dermatology, board-certified dermatologist Dr. Robert Nossa offers tattoo removal with a the high-tech PicoWay by Candela® laser system. This picosecond laser device works to break down the ink to reduce the visibility of the tattoo on your skin after a few treatments. It is even effective on multi-colored tattoos. OUR LASER TATTOO REMOVAL TECHNIQUE
Following a consultation to determine whether you are a good candidate for a PicoWay laser procedure, the tattoo will be prepped with a careful cleansing and an application of a topical numbing cream. Dr. Nossa will begin by passing the PicoWay device over the tattooed skin as it releases pulsing laser energy. Typically, patients need about 6 – 8 treatments before noticeable results can be seen. Following each treatment, a topical cream will be applied to your treated skin, along with bandages to protect the area. You may have redness, sensitivity, and swelling. You might also feel a sunburned sensation followed by a slight scabbing. It's important to follow aftercare instructions to speed up the healing process. Dr. Nossa recommends scheduling treatments about 4 – 7 weeks apart.
